We have put debts into the Small Claims Court in the past, have had no problem getting judgement but have had difficulty in actually enforcing this. The Court Bailiff seems to try knocking a couple of times and then gives up.
The Sheriffs Office however has a vested interest in collecting the debt as they only get paid by collecting their fees from the debtor-they are a private and not a public body. Unlike debt collectors they do not take a percentage of the debt as fee but add the fee to the debt. They can also go back 6 years on old debts.
