Licences for Landlords in parts of Liverpool
A new landlord licensing scheme in Liverpool which covers 16 of the city’s wards will start on 1st April 2022.

Applicants will need to declare convictions for dishonesty, violence or drug-related offences, or breaches of housing, landlord or tenant laws. The application form also asks questions about the property and its amenities.
Licensed properties must meet fire, electric and gas safety standards and be in a good state of repair. Licence holders must also be able to deal effectively with any complaints about their tenants and anti-social behaviour.
Once licences are granted a number of compliance checks and visits are made in each ward. Full conditions can be found here.
The cost of the licence for a standard house is £380 per property provided the application is submitted prior to 30th June 2022 with a £50 discount if the property has an EPC rating of C or above.
